Amy’s passion for early childhood education started early when she first worked at a childcare facility when she was 16 years old. She then went on to get her degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in early childhood education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. She taught Kindergarten for one year before moving to Pinedale where she was the director of Pinedale Preschool for 8 years. She took a year off to be with her own kids and then spent six more years at the Pinedale Preschool as a substitute, teacher’s aide, and then a preschool teacher. This will be her 5th year in the role of director here at BEEP.
Amy believes the most important part of any early childhood education program is the kids and families they get to work with everyday. She is passionate about building programs that support parents and provide the best care possible to the children they are responsible for. She loves that the primary goal here at BEEP is to make children feel safe and comfortable while supporting their growth and development.

After attending the University of California at Berkeley (where I received my Bachelors in Integrative Biology) and living in the San Francisco Bay Area for eight years I returned to Pinedale, my childhood home, to raise my family. I am the proud Mom of Symon and Yulia Carpenter. I began my formal early childhood career, outside of my home, here at BEEP in September of 2017.
I love the magic that is childhood—adventure, growth, play and problem solving in the midst of raw emotion. I am passionate about being outside as much as possible to facilitate that magic. I have a very strong image of children and believe they are beautiful humans that deserve my respect and love. This informs my practices as an educator in all ways and influences the tasks they are expected to perform for themselves and the incredible amount of teamwork we will embark on together.
